Providing Hope VA is veteran founded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to support our less fortunate veterans. Providing Hope works with veterans facing financial difficulties, homelessness, unemployment, and those in need of treatment. Providing Hope is a small community based organization filling the void between the Veteran's Administration and our veterans in need throughout our communities.
There are currently more than 40,000 homeless veterans across the nation, with 11% of the homeless population being veterans. 70% of homeless veterans have substance abuse issues. More than 50% of homeless veterans suffer from serious mental illness and service connected disabilities. Without shelter, transportation, and access to decent healthcare, homeless veterans are unable to get proper treatment.
Veteran homelessness can be caused by a number of factors, including: military occupation failing to transfer to civilian careers, service connected disability, higher divorce rates, substance abuse as a coping mechanism, lack of support, lack of healthcare, and inability to find community in civilian life.
Providing Hope VA enables homeless veterans to obtain the care they need, while working toward transitioning veterans from homelessness to self-sufficient. We currently support veterans in financial distress, work directly with the Veterans Administration to secure housing vouchers for homeless veterans, and enable homeless veterans to obtain jobs through our Dress for Success program.
